Una nueva era comienza para la medicina, la me-
dicina digital, denida como el uso de herramientas
digitales para llevar la práctica de la medicina a una
de alta denición e individualizada, promete revolu-
cionar la atención médica y el bienestar. El núcleo de
esta revolución es el desarrollo de soluciones tecno-
lógicas para monitorear, procesar e integrar vastas
cantidades de datos a nivel individual y poblacional
para ayudar a abordar los problemas de salud y los
desafíos que enfrentan los pacientes, los clínicos y
los sistemas de salud por igual. Esta nueva era digi-
tal de la medicina tiene el potencial de democratizar
el acceso a la atención y capacitar a los pacientes
para que se comprometan con su salud de una ma-
nera verdaderamente preventiva. En China, en el
último año, comenzó a funcionar un proyecto piloto:
colocar en un lugar público una cabina de 3 metros
cuadrados que proporcione atención médica integral
sin necesidad de personal médico presencial. La in-
teligencia articial (IA), y en particular el aprendiza-
je profundo, se encuentran entre las herramientas
tecnológicas líderes que comienzan a utilizarse en
la interpretación de imágenes médicas y registros
electrónicos de salud. ¿Nuestros sistemas de salud
están preparados para el futuro?...
A new era begins for medicine, digital medicine,
dened as the use of digital tools to bring the practice
of medicine to a high denition and individualized
level; it promises to revolutionize health care and well-
being. The core of this revolution is the development
of technological solutions to monitor, process and
integrate large amounts of data at individual and
population levels to help address health problems
and the challenges faced by patients, physicians
and health systems as well. This new digital age of
medicine has the potential to democratize the access
to care and train patients to become involved with
their own health in a truly preventive way. In China,
during the past year, a pilot project began to be
implemented: a 3-square-meter cabin was set in a
public place, providing comprehensive medical care
without the need for in-person medical personnel.
Articial Intelligence (AI), and in particular deep
learning, are among the leading technological tools
that are beginning to be used in the interpretation of
medical images and electronic health records. Are
our health systems ready for the future?...
