Abstract

The purpose of the following article is to consider some generalities of therapy with oral anticoagulants, the importance of the response to treatment with warfarin in patients of the oral anticoagulation polyclinic, as well as the presentation of a study carried out in the Clinical Analysis Laboratory of the Military Hospital with the collaboration of the oral anticoagulation polyclinic, with the aim of determining the average dose of warfarin necessary to maintain an INR between 2 and 3 in patients of the oral anticoagulation polyclinic. In each patient, the dose at which the INR is stabilized between 2 and 3, the recommended value to obtain adequate anticoagulation, was selected. The most commonly used doses are 35 mg and 25 mg, and 75% of the patients require doses lower than 35 mg.
