Monoarticular, oligoarticular and polyarticular syndromes in the emergency department of the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces.

The pathologies related to the osteoarticular sphere, and within these the inflammatory joint syndromes, in their diverse clinical evolutionary expressions, constitute a diagnostic challenge for the physician who performs his functions in the emergency department.
According to Dr. J. Schmid in 1981, "there is no other clinical form of rheumatologic disease that presents a greater challenge to the physician's clinical knowledge than the patient with joint pain". This fact is due to the fact that the articular structures can be affected by pathologies directly related to the articular sphere, as well as by a wide variety of extra-articular diseases of diverse etiologies (connective tissue diseases, infections, neoplasms, etc.) in which the affected joint or joints represent one more target organ within the multisystemic cortex of such entities.
