Abstract

The term myiasis is used to define infection by fly larvae or pupae of tissues in humans and animals. Oral myiasis is a rare condition that is usually associated with periodontal pockets, post-extraction alveoli, open wounds in general. The diagnosis is based on the clinical picture. The treatment of this pathology consists of the total removal of the larvae and the administration of chemotherapeutics. A case of myiasis in a patient with severe cerebral palsy is presented.
