In October 1994, Medical Lieutenant Colonel Juan Carlos Castiglioni, Chief of the Surgery Service of the H.C.FF.AA. was retiring. He requested it when he knew that he could no longer be physically the same after self-diagnosing and being treated for lung cancer. That executioner that he knew was stalking him as a consequence of his intense, indominable and enjoyable addiction to black cigarettes that were so characteristic of him and that he inhaled with real pleasure, especially after the long days of surgery that we shared.
