Emerging infectious diseases are one of the main public health problems worldwide.
There are many reasons for the resurgence of infections: resistance to antibiotics, changes in vectors, environmental changes, increased travel and trade, growing urbanization, deterioration of socioeconomic and sanitary conditions, etc.
Prevention and control strategies are based on adequate epidemiological surveillance, in relation to three fundamental aspects: pathogenic microorganisms, syndromes and conditioning factors.
At the level of the Military Units, the responsible physician plays a fundamental role in the permanent education of the personnel, early diagnosis and timely delimitation of the infectious focus.
