Abstract

Born on February 28, 1910, at his parents' home, 253 Florida Street, at 8 o'clock in the morning. Son of a 26-year-old Spanish immigrant, a milliner, and his wife, a 24-year-old Oriental. He grew up in a humble home, with a brother and a sister, who knew how to give all three of them the aspiration to progress in life, all of them graduating from our University. Since he was a student, he stood out for his perseverance, his perfectionist spirit and his tenacity. He was a tireless student of all those subjects to which he turned his attention. When he was in high school, he studied in detail the insects of our country, reaching to have a very large collection. These studies led him to make his first two scientific publications. With the proceeds from the sale of boxes of insects, which were once required in Natural History courses, he collaborated with his family in household expenses.
