This paper presents a comparative study of the data provided by a Mini Mental Test and those provided by a psychometric battery for the diagnosis of the preservation of cognitive abilities in a random sample of 30 adults over 65 years of age in a polyclinic of the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay.
Statistical hypotheses based on the population attended in this Hospital suggest the need to identify as soon as possible those over 65 who present their first symptoms of non-cognitive preservation in order to include them in a follow-up protocol, and to plan for the future health demands that a positive diagnosis implies.
