The objective is to carry out a descriptive study of the Service and of the users who are attended at the Military Health Service in the Child Psychology Service. It should be clarified that there are no precedents of this type of work.
The purpose of the presentation is to show the general activities of the Psychology Department of the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces, and then we will focus specifically on the tasks performed in the Child Psychology Service and the modality of psychological care in the hospital environment.
A description will be made of the users, number, socioeconomic level, gender, and most frequent reasons for consultation.
We will describe the tasks carried out in the Service, the type of assistance provided, and a description of the functions performed by the professionals and members of the Service.
The objective of the Child Psychology Service is to improve the quality of life of children and their families, providing three levels of care: Preventive, Assistance and Rehabilitation. For this purpose, integrated mental health care is provided to children and their families through the interdisciplinary work of the psychologist, in coordination with the Instrumental Alterations Service (formed by a speech therapist and a psychomotor therapist), the Child Psychiatry Service, the Pediatrics Service and the Neuropediatrics and Neuropediatrics Service. The approach to this type of patients in this area, leads to a flexible approach, intervening in an interdisciplinary and interinstitutional way.
