"Everything is lost in war. Everything is gained in peace," it is said with a certain candor. However, the idea that in wars everyone loses seems false. Wars are dreadful, perhaps the worst scourge of humanity, but between winning and losing them, there is surely an abyss.
Here we propose to unveil the story of Dr. Francisco Bergós Ribalta, a Catalan doctor who was expelled from his native Catalonia by a war, the Spanish Civil War, and from Uruguay, his adopted homeland, by another war, the Second World War.
