He was born in Montevideo in 1870 and graduated as a surgeon from the Faculty of Medicine of Montevideo in 1894. Between 1894-1896 he perfected his skills in Paris. He began his gyneco-obstetric career upon his return as Chief of Practical Works of the Obstetric Clinic. He will culminate it as Director and Professor of the same. He was also Professor of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Course and Head of the Maternity Hospital until 1932. He served as Dean of the School of Medicine, which distinguished him as Professor Emeritus of that house.
