Congenital cardiopathies are the most frequent congenital anomalies at birth and are one of the main
causes of infant morbidity and mortality from congenital defects. For some congenital heart defects there is clear evidence that prenatal diagnosis improves morbidity and mortality. It is assessed the percentage of prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart diseases detected prenatally in the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces in the period from September 2010 to May of 2019. All fetal echocardiograms performed in that period were included and compared the results obtained with 100% of the births, evaluating the diagnostic capacity in the uterus.
It was possible to detect 100% of congenital cardiopathies, being the only center in the country to report that percentage. We confirm the prenatal/postnatal diagnostic match.
that percentage. We confirm the prenatal/postnatal diagnostic match
