The maternal and child oral health program proposed to be implemented in CAP Nº 3, assigned as a pilot center by the General Directorate of Peripheral Care of the D.N.S.FF.AA. is presented.
It represents an educational-preventive-care program with full coverage of the reference user population, with the objective of comprehensive care.
It is based on five fundamental principles: 1. Oral health is an attainable goal and its maintenance is the priority objective to be prioritized.
2. The recognition that the most prevalent oral pathologies represent infectious and transmissible diseases.
3. Primary Health Care is the strategy of choice to achieve maximum coverage and comprehensive care.
4. The Risk Approach allows the categorization of individuals and the rationalization of benefits with equity criteria.
5. The achievement of quality care through the optimization of service management.
Background, objectives, activities, resources and evaluation of the program are presented.
